Ahdept, an exciting startup that merges the Internet of Things and AI, is looking for a creative and talented Industrial Design Engineer with strong graphic design capabilities. This role is essential in facilitating the full product lifecycle from design inception to finished product.
You will help conceptualize and develop new products, including form, aesthetics, user interfaces between people and products, and system compatibility where required. You will collaborate across business functions to determine materials, construction, mechanisms, shape, color, surface finish, manufacturing processes, and packaging.
Responsibilities
- Work with multiple teams to create unique consumer products, switching quickly between projects while adhering to schedules.
- Conceptualize and think accurately in 3D, creating renderings and illustrations of product views in Illustrator or Photoshop.
- Provide technical specifications for product materials, colors, measurements, manufacturing processes, and details to support sampling and production.
- Develop new product packaging concepts, including mock-ups, technical renderings, and dielines.
- Create original print and pattern designs for use on products and packaging.
- Test and correct prototypes and samples to ensure design vision and specifications are met.
- Provide feedback and corrections to improve samples in preparation for mass production and final approval.
- Ensure product quality, performance, and safety meet company standards.
- Research new opportunities and develop creative concepts aligned with brand direction and objectives.
- Create documentation to convey design solutions through renderings, models, mechanical drawings, and written reports.
- Participate actively in design reviews and company meetings.
- Analyze intended use and user preferences to inform designs using CAD and visualization tools.
- Create novel design ideas and run them through prototyping or proof of concept with hands-on involvement.
- Work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams to push state-of-the-art product design.
- Work independently, proactively identify and solve problems, and accept direction on select aspects of work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 2+ years of related experience, including hands-on prototyping of complex systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling. Experience with other 3D or surface modeling programs is a plus.
- Proficiency and intimate knowledge of Adobe Suite (CS6) or higher.
- Photoshop experience for concept sketching, image editing, and high-quality 2D rendering.
- Illustrator experience for vector work, infographics, packaging layout, advertising layouts, and product label artwork.
- InDesign experience for presentation layouts, instruction manuals, and advertising layouts.
- Proficiency in product concept sketching on a 2D medium.
- Proficiency in KeyShot Pro2 or higher for 3D model rendering. Similar tools are a plus.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and refine product concepts.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with strong cross-functional communication.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
